So I had a nice post about the Halloween party I went to the other night, complete with pictures, but that will have to wait until later this week.
Firstly, and far more important, Japan is trying to kill me.
I had the flu a few weeks ago and figured that all the breathing problems I was having were connected to that, but it turns out that when the seasons change all the dust mites in the country realise that my tatami flooring is their Mecca, and move on in.
That's right, I'm allergic to my house.
I vacuum every day but it's just not making a difference. It's also apparently quite common for the nylon blankets to really set some people off, so now that it's gotten a bit cooler and the blankets have come out, my asthma has been really bad.
Luckily I found some dani no kujo or dust mite killer spray. You stick the needle into your tatami and it wipes out the little bastards. I've declared war and one of us is going down.
I bought some more bedding tonight and am just going to start fresh, mine was obviously in storage in the cupboards over summer and I have no way to wash an dry a thick blanket that won't end with it going mouldy. I changed my curtains recently (because the old ones were mind-breakingly ugly) so I don't think they will be a problem. If none of that helps then I'll go to an electrical store and buy an air purifier. It will cost about 10,000 yen I think (approx...£40?) but the choice between £40 and breathing is an easy one. I can't deal with my asthma being this bad anymore though, I'm back to using my inhaler a few times a day but it still feels like someone is sitting on my chest all the time.
